SOUTHERN REGIONS IN THE FREE STATE
The following is a sample itinerary; therefore this package can be customised.
This package can be taken as a self-drive or organized tour.

 

  • Diamond & Wine Route (follow the route of the diamond prospectors of the past and present on this route. At Jagersfontein thereis a man-made diamond hole of 760m that rivals the better known “Big Hole of Kimberley” for size. Also visit a wine cellar.
  •  On the southern border of the Free State lies the Xhariep District, a region of vast savannas fed by the Garieb (great river), as the San people called it. The Gariep Dam is probably one of the biggest dams in the southern hemisphere and extends over approximately 200km. The many islands in the dam are an outstanding landmark of the southern region. We will take a tour to some nature reserves, then a tour into the dam wall and a trip on a houseboat.
