THE FOLLOWING AREAS CAN BE VISITIED IN ONE OR TWO DAYS.

KIMBERLEY - HISTORY IN ITS FULL SENSE
The following is  sample itineraries; therefore packages can be customised.
This package can be taken as a self-drive or with a organized tour.

  • The discovery of a 83 carat diamond brought the worlds biggest diamond pilgrimage rush. It all happened in 1867. A day full of history and intrigue stories about pilgrims, see the largest hand made excavation in the world and experience a tour in a underground mine and through museums.

  • With history there are certainly some hidden stories not written in books, secret passages…whispering voices…and the real ghost stories of the past, still haunting today. Ghost tours, real ghost stories, a very interesting tour for the enthusiasts.

  • Political and Military History. Memories of political prisoners, War balloons, the fought for freedom in the Anglo-Boer War, the siege of Kimberley and how histories of battlefields are flawed because of military cover-ups.

  • New interpretation of rock art sites. This tour considers the implications of the way we see engravings and painting sites. Resent media claims that some sites ascribe Egyptian influences and allege that engravings represent ancient Ogham scripts. Is this true? We also walk in the footsteps of human evolution and sourcing khoisan ceramics.
  • Again History but with a difference. Discover the old buildings of Kimberley. Listen to the stories of statues throughout the town – not just statues and memorials, the day-to-day lives of the pilgrim people and fashion through the ages.
  • Wildlife and Culture. Listen to a talk about medicinal plants or visit the birding hot spots in this area. Explore the way humans have viewed vultures from the very earliest San and Ancient Egyptians to modern Tibetans. Visit the famous Dronfield White-backed Vulture breeding colony and vulture restaurant.
