ACCESSIBILITY TO ALL
A survey conducted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services in 1996, suggest that 11.3 million people practice big game hunting. From that, 5% (565 000 people) of all big game hunters were people with disabilities. And this is just a survey in their area. With areas and places being upgraded and developed for accessibility, surreally recreation for disability is a growing ‘sport’. Now disabled children and adults can enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, sight seeing, bird watching and much more.
As a professional company, Under The African Sky Safaris give accessibility to thousands of disabled hunters and nature lovers around the world to experience the beauty and excitement of what Southern Africa can offer.
We help to make the outdoors accessible again, giving you the opportunity to experience nature, culture and bio-diversity in all sense. We know that able bodies take a lot for granted. But for the disabled it can be a life changing experience and a tremendous impact on the quality of life. That’s why we offer a wide range of year round tours.
Our activities / tours cater for those who long to be out in the veld again, concentrating on ethical, quality time and a safe environment with dedicated staff. We also emphasize the need for removal of "fears" for interacting with disabled persons.
All trips are custom design to suite that group and disability needs. Disabled, people with life threatening illness reaching for a dream, persons who need assistance with mobility etc... all can be accommodated on our trips. All our tours have a medical kit with oxygen that can be used in an emergency. The areas visited will be accessible for emergency helicopter evacuation if needed. Two ways satellite communication will be available at all time. We also make use of accessible transport with well-established companies to ensure a comfortable and relaxed journey. Most of our trips are staffed with a 1:4 ratio, but additional assistance of 1:1 and 1:2 care is available at a low additional cost.
Staff or private assistance (chaperones) coming with the group / person will have a special rate given to them.
Together with other South African organizations, specializing in the disability market, we will make sure that each traveler has a trip full of memories to treasure for a lifetime. With the background and experience, Under The African Sky Safaris is sure to provide you with a well fit, tailor-made program to meet all your needs.
